Operation Rahma 15 – JAPAN CRISIS APPEAL

On March 11, 2011 a historic earthquake, with an 8.9 magnitude struck the Northeast coast of Japan at 2:46 pm local time, triggering a 33 foot tsunami which slammed the coastal towns. This is the largest magnitude earthquake Japan has ever seen. Thousands were instantly killed, thousands more are still unaccounted for.
As the images continue to come out of the devastated areas, it is evident millions have lost their homes and necessities needed for survival. The destruction continues as the warning of a potential nuclear meltdown poses an additional set of detrimental complications for the people of Japan. The crisis deepens with a potential radiation catastrophe that can affect countries way beyond Japan’s parameters.
Disaster victims are desperately seeking a way to rebuild their lives. All signs of civilization have been washed away, leaving debris approximately 10 feet high. Millions of people, their homes smashed to pieces, are trying to survive without water, food or heat in near-freezing temperatures. As the days pass, the risk of malnutrition and disease will rise sharply. One of the most developed countries is quickly crumbling and the people of Japan are in desperate need.
The North American Muslim Foundation is dedicated to providing timely relief aid to victims of the earthquake and tsunami. The last relief effort spearheaded by NAMF, your registered Muslim Canadian NGO for the last 38 years, has resulted in the providing relief and rehabilitation to thousands of people around the world.
